The Washington Commanders concluded rookie minicamp this weekend, but general manager Adam Peters isn't done adding to the roster.
On Monday, the Commanders signed veteran free agent cornerback Antonio Hamilton Sr. back to the roster.
Hamilton is a 10-year NFL veteran who joined the league in 2016 as an undrafted rookie free agent. He was first signed by the Oakland Raiders, where he appeared in 12 games over two seasons. After being waived by the Raiders in September 2018, Hamilton signed with the New York Giants. He played two seasons in New York, and his on-field play proved he belonged in the NFL.
After the Giants, Hamilton spent a season with the Kansas City Chiefs, three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, and one season with the Atlanta Falcons before joining the Commanders in 2025. He hit the free agency market this March, but after the roster movement that's happened over the last few months, Peters decided it was time to bring the veteran back.
In 2025, Hamilton appeared in 15 games and recorded 18 tackles (12 solo) and two passes defensed. He's not flashy, and he's not on the field as often as he used to be, but when he is, he makes his presence known. His veteran knowledge and experience in the NFL will allow him to mentor the youth in the secondary room and provide a solid rotational piece throughout the season. Hamilton stood out mostly on special teams last season.
