The Washington Commanders have met with another prominent wide receiver ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. Whether it was at the Senior Bowl, the 2026 NFL combine, Zoom calls, or pro days, the Commanders have met with most of the top receivers, including Carnell Tate, Makai Lemon and Jordyn Tyson.
On Friday, Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network revealed that the Commanders hosted Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. on an official pre-draft visit.
The 6-foot-0, 199-pound Cooper is fresh off helping the Indiana Hoosiers win the national championship as projected No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza's No. 1 receiver. Cooper's 13 touchdowns were tied for No. 3 nationally in the FBS. He finished his final college season leading the Hoosiers with 69 receptions for 937 yards.
Cooper is often considered the No. 4 receiver in this draft. He will go in the first round, and recent rumors have linked him to the New York Jets at No. 16 overall. Washington will not select Cooper with the No. 7 pick, but if the Commanders can trade down to acquire more picks, Cooper would be a strong option.

Cooper's visit to Ashburn is another case of Washington GM Adam Peters doing his due diligence on every wide receiver prospect. The Commanders made a strong push to sign Alec Pierce before he re-signed with the Colts, and also pursued Romeo Doubs before he signed with the Patriots.
Currently, Washington has Terry McLaurin, Luke McCaffrey, Jaylin Lane, Dyami Brown, Treylon Burks, Van Jefferson, Jacoby Jones, Ja'Corey Brooks and Nick Nash under contract in 2026.
