The Washington Commanders hosted Navy defensive tackle Landon Robinson for a private workout as they prepare for the 2026 NFL Draft. Robinson, despite being undersized at 5-foot-11 and 293 pounds, has shown impressive strength and performance in college.
The Washington Commanders have done their due diligence on a number of positions leading up to next week's 2026 NFL Draft. Washington has specifically focused on edge rushers, defensive backs and wide receivers. One position we haven't often heard connected to the Commanders is defensive tackle.
While Washington didn't host any defensive tackles for top-30 visits, it recently held a private workout for a local star: Navy defensive tackle Landon Robinson. Robinson revealed the meeting in an interview with PFSN.
Robinson is an interesting prospect for many reasons. First, he lacks ideal NFL size at 5-foot-11, 293 pounds. But don't mistake that lack of size for weakness. Robinson is extremely strong and uses his low center of gravity to his advantage.
Robinson was outstanding over the last three seasons for Navy. In 2025, he appeared in 13 games, recording 64 tackles, including 8.5 for loss and 6.5 sacks. For his career, Robinson played in 38 games and finished with 153 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks.
Here is NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein's scouting report on Robinson.
Robinson might not possess ideal measurables, but donāt ignore his game tape. Heās small by NFL standards, but heās strong. It takes a low pad level to neutralize his leverage and move him at the point. Heās typically quicker than opponents when activated in slanting, stemming fronts. While his sack production might not translate, he's disruptive when active. Robinson has the talent to grab a roster spot as a 1-technique in the right scheme.
Robinson is expected to be a Day 3 pick in next week's draft. Washington has four picks on Day 3, including two in the sixth round. The Commanders currently have Daron Payne, Javon Kinlaw, Johnny Newton, Tim Settle, Ricky Barber and Shy Tuttle as defensive tackles on the 90-man roster.
