The Washington Commanders played a major role in Todd McShay's final 2026 mock draft.
McShay, who for years double-teamed with Mel Kiper on ESPN's NFL Draft coverage and broadcast, is now with The Ringer, and he appeared on the "Rich Eisen Show" on Wednesday. The Commanders didn't merely sit at No. 7 in McShay's final mock, but made a trade. Here is the video of the Rich Eisen episode to see the entire first round.
For the Commanders fans, let's go right ahead and jump into the juicy details of what McShay sees for the Commanders. McShay has the Commanders trading down from No. 7 to No. 16 with the Jets. So, the Jets get the No. 7 and take Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State.
What does McShay see the Jets giving the Commanders? The Commanders in this mocked trade receive the Jets' picks at No. 16, No. 44, and No. 140. With both Jeremiyah Love and Sonny Styles already taken, I can't imagine many Commanders fans being upset with this type of trade. It would, of course, then be up to Commanders GM Adam Peters to do a good job with the extra two draft choices he receives in such a trade.
Here are the first 16 picks leading up to the Commanders first-round selection.
