The Washington Commanders have unveiled their new 2026 uniforms, returning to a Super Bowl-era design. Players expressed excitement about the nostalgic look, particularly noting its connection to past legends like Sean Taylor.
In the NFL, this has been the offseason of the uniform change. The Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons both unveiled new digs recently, and now the Washington Commanders have joined the party.
Of course, the Commanders didn't do a full rebrand or anything. Rather, the team is going back to its roots, making the switch back to the Super Bowl-era uniforms that are loved by fans. On Wednesday, ahead of the team's reveal party, the players got a chance to see the new look, and the team account posted their reactions.
"Y'all did y'all big one these," new cornerback Amik Robertson proclaimed. "This color right here reminds me of 21 Sean Taylor, the best."
Veteran Jeremy Reaves, who has been with Washington since 2018, was excited to be bringing back the traditional look.
"Classic, gotta love it," said Reaves, while holding the new home jersey. "If you know you know. I've missed these so much."
Reaves is unique because he played for the team when they were the Washington Redskins, Washington Football Team, and the Washington Commanders. The veteran has worn several different uniforms, but he's made it known in the past he prefers the traditional, Super Bowl-era look.
The team was also impressed with the new black uniforms. Wide receiver Treylon Burks declared the black jersey his favorite, while new linebacker Leo Chenal declared the black helmets to be "all kinds of swaggy."

It seems like the new uniforms accomplish the best of both worlds. They satisfy the fans who miss the look they grew up with, while also maintaining the new "Commanders" identity. Now that the look is improved, the hope is that the play on the field will be improved as well in 2026.
