While he may not have been selected until the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, Washington Commanders wide receiver Antonio Williams has many fans around the league. Several NFL analysts believe Williams is a perfect match for Washington's offense under new coordinator David Blough. Some believe Williams could have a similar role in the Commanders' offense as Amon-Ra St. Brown does in Detroit.
ESPN NFL draft analyst Field Yates recently named several prospects drafted in the second and third rounds, who he believes will have an immediate impact in 2026. Williams was on that list.
Draft position and fit are why Williams cracks this list. He is an extremely experienced, savvy, pro-ready wideout who can start in the slot from Day 1. The Commanders needed receiver help alongside Terry McLaurin, and Williams will compete with players such as Dyami Brown and Luke McCaffrey for snaps. I love Williams' instincts, as he was a persistent chain-mover at Clemson.
Washington needed a "chain-moving" receiver for quarterback Jayden Daniels. The Commanders could have selected someone with a higher physical upside who needed more development. General manager Adam Peters went with the player who could help immediately, who still has a high upside. Williams is only 21 and has played a lot of football at one of the NCAA's top programs, with less-than-stellar quarterback play.
Antonio Williams is expected to play as a slot receiver and contribute immediately to the Commanders' offense.
Williams was chosen in the third round due to his experience and readiness to perform at a professional level, making him a suitable fit for the Commanders.
Analysts suggest that Williams could have a similar impact in the Commanders' offense as Amon-Ra St. Brown does for the Detroit Lions.

There's a good chance the Commanders aren't done adding at wide receiver, with Brandon Aiyuk long rumored to be headed to Washington once the 49ers finally move on from him. Even if the Commanders get tired of waiting on Aiyuk, perhaps they consider Stefon Diggs. Regardless, Williams will be a significant part of Washington's offense in 2026.
