The Washington Commanders are considering acquiring a four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver to strengthen their roster. They currently lack a reliable No. 2 target alongside Terry McLaurin.

The Washington Commanders entered the offseason with a big need at the wide receiver position.
While the team has made some moves at the position, it has yet to add a true No. 2 target for Jayden Daniels opposite Terry McLaurin. Deebo Samuel had that role in 2025, but it doesn't look like he'll be back.
There have been rumblings that the Commanders are interested in adding Brandon Aiyuk, but the San Francisco 49ers haven't released him yet and even if they do and Washington can scoop him up, Aiyuk can't be depended on for a big role given the fact he didn't play at all last season.
The article suggests that the Washington Commanders are interested in acquiring Stefon Diggs.
The Commanders have made moves at the wide receiver position but still need a true No. 2 target to complement Terry McLaurin.
Yes, there are rumors that the Commanders are interested in Brandon Aiyuk, but he has not been released by the San Francisco 49ers yet.

One potential solution for Washington, according to USA TODAY's Nate Davis, is former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
After what seems like a one-and-done relationship with free agent Deebo Samuel, they have very little established wideout experience behind Terry McLaurin, whoâs coming off his worst NFL season. Diggs, who hails from nearby Gaithersburg, Maryland, and attended the University of Maryland, would diversify and elevate this passing attack for third-year QB Jayden Daniels, whether or not 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk eventually lands here. And with nearly $50 million in available salary cap space, the Commanders could certainly afford to import Diggs better than most.
Diggs was embroiled in legal trouble recently, which is likely a big reason why he has yet to find a new home.
But he has since been found not guilty on strangulation and assault and battery charges, clearing the way for a team to sign him.
Diggs is long in the tooth at 32 years old, but he proved he can still be a difference-maker in 2025 when the four-time Pro Bowler broke the 1,000-yard mark for the seventh time in his career.
Diggs would be a perfect solution for the No. 2 receiver role in Washington, and adding both him and Aiyuk would completely fortify the Commanders' group.
