Confirmed: The role Arne Slot played in Mo Salah's Liverpool exit
Mohamed Salah is leaving Liverpool at the end of the current season.
This time last year Richard Hughes was toasting a new £400k per week contract extension for the Egyptian King.
Salah was just coming to the end of a stunning individual campaign - winning the Premier League’s player of the year award as well as the top scorer and playmaker gongs.
It felt like a no-brainer to secure the two-time African footballer of the year to a deal until 2027.
But this season has unravelled for Salah and for Liverpool collectively. The forward has been unable to replicate his goalscoring form - stuck on six Premier League strikes.
And matters came to a head back in winter when Salah was left out of Arne Slot’s lineup for three games in a row. Salah blasted the club in a post-game interview at Elland Road - leading to a demotion from the matchday squad.
And while relations have been patched up to an extent the row is the reason behind Salah having his contract torn up. Rather than leaving in 2027 the legendary attacker will be departing at the end of this season instead.
Various reports this week have detailed that Salah approached club management about the possibility of ending the relationship early.
And now trusted reporter Paul Joyce in the Times has revealed further details - stating that a deterioration in relations between Salah and his head coach has brought an end to the player’s spell on Merseyside.
Arne Slot's influence was pivotal in Mohamed Salah's decision to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

“The winger’s £400,000-a-week contract at Liverpool had been due to expire in the summer of 2027 but he asked for the agreement to be terminated 12 months early after what he perceived to be a deterioration in his relationship with Slot, having been demoted to the bench for three games at the end of November and beginning of December last year,” the report reads.
It’s a shame it had to end this way. Liverpool fans will have wanted Salah to succeed in his final two years at Anfield before walking out the front door with his head held high.
Next season he will be playing in either Saudi Arabia or the United States - according to various reports.
Al-Ittihad and Al-Qadsiah are thought to be keen on signing the Egypt captain to a mammoth contract while MLS have got plans to entice Salah to their league with an alluring package.
