Connecticut Sun claims former Longhorn star Kyla Oldacre off waivers

After being waived by the Dallas Wings, Kyla Oldacre has found a new home. The talented center was claimed off waivers by the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. She will now get the opportunity to shine for the Sun while creating a new legacy in the WNBA.

During her time as a Longhorn, Oldacre was a human highlight reel, scoring 1,000 points while shooting 58% from the field. She also made her presence felt at both ends of the court with 355 rebounds and 66 blocks. Regardless of the opponent, the William Mason High alumna was a key piece of head coach Vic Schaefer's rotation.

In her last season on the Forty Acres, the Ohio native showed why she is a special talent. She set a new career-high in rebounds with 188 and blocks with 38. She also dished out 20 assists and helped Texas make a deep March Madness run that nearly ended in a national title.

As Oldacre begins the next chapter of her basketball career, she will be looking to help the Sun turn things around. They finished the 2025 campaign with an 11-33 record, finishing 11th in the Eastern Conference. Adding a player like Oldacre to the mix should help turn things around.

While the last few days have been full of change for Oldacre, they also show much coaches liked her college tape. Now with the Sun, she will have a chance to make her mark. If she can replicate her play from her college career, the Sun will be in good hands.
