'Control what we can control,' insists Oxtoby ahead of final away game
United make one final long away trip of the season on the back of a three-week international break that saw eight of the Lasses head away to represent their respective countries.
During Oxtobyâs pre-match interview, she spoke about what sheâs hoping to see from her players on Sunday, as well as her return to Ashton Gate, where she kick-started her managerial career.
Here are some of the managerâs pre-match thoughtsâŠ
ON THE CHANCE OF PROMOTIONâŠ
âWe need to control what we can control, and that is to make sure we go after a result on Sunday.
âWe just need to make sure we do our part and hope that results go our way because weâd kick ourselves if results went our way and then we didnât do our bit.
âSo, thatâs been the main message to the group: control our performances and give ourselves every opportunity.â
ON THE RECENT RUN OF FORMâŠ
âEight games unbeaten is a nice stat, but fundamentally for me, weâve not picked up enough points in games where we felt we should have.
âSo, there are areas for improvement, and weâve been working really hard on those, and this group of players want more, and weâre striving for more.
âThere are certain things that we feel like we are doing well, but certainly, there are areas of improvement.â
ON RETURNING TO BRISTOLâŠ
âI have such a soft spot for Bristol, my little boy was born there, and I started my managerial career there, and Iâm looking forward to going back to Ashton Gate. But, weâre going there to get a result, and all focus is on that this weekend.â
ON FACING THE ROBINSâŠ
âBristol are a good side, so we ned to make sure we put in a good 90-minute performance. Weâve spoken a lot about control and controlling the game in certain areas, and how we want to do that.
âWeâve worked hard on that this week, and I want to see that come out on Sunday. I want to see us be in a position where weâre in control, whether thatâs with or without the ball.
âThis league has shown that everybody can take points off everybody, so we go into every game knowing it will be tough.â
Oxtoby highlighted the need to 'control what we can control' in preparation for the final away game.
Eight players from the team participated in international duty during the three-week break.
Oxtoby started her managerial career at Ashton Gate, where she will return for the upcoming match.
