The Brooklyn Nets will have some interesting decisions to make in the 2026 NBA Draft after they came away from Sunday's Lottery with the No. 6 overall pick in the draft. Brooklyn will likely be doing its homework on the prospects expected to be available around that range, but is there a possibility that the Nets could try to trade up in the upcoming draft?
NBA insider Jake Fischer reported on Sunday for The Stein Line that the Washington Wizards and Utah Jazz could potentially be open to trading down from their picks in the draft. The Wizards won the entire Lottery by getting the No. 1 pick while the Jazz finally got some luck on their side by getting the No. 2 pick. However, it seems like it's too early to know which direction those teams will go in prior to Jun. 23.
"I must say, though, that my conversations with various team officialsâboth in the back room and around the main audience floor after the broadcast concludedâgenerated a healthy amount of skepticism that any team at the top of this draft would be willing to trade all the way down to No. 6," Fischer wrote in his piece. While Nets general manager Sean Marks could have intentions of moving up, it sounds like those teams ahead of them could need a haul.
"Multiple league sources told ClutchPoints that they âwould be very surprisedâ if any of the Washington Wizards, Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies or Chicago Bulls traded back to No. 6," reported for ClutchPoints on Monday. "One source said the Nets âwould need to overwhelmâ a team in the top four to pique their interest. Even then, there's skepticism that a trade up the board is in the cards."

If the Nets stay with the No. 6 pick, they could be looking at a group of guards like Arkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr., Illinois guard Keaton Wagler, and Houston guard Kingston Flemings, just to name a few. However, given that Brooklyn selected plenty of guards in the 2025 NBA Draft, headlined by eighth overall pick in Egor Demin, there could be a deal to be had as the first round of the 2026 draft approaches.
