The Dallas Cowboys and kicker Brandon Aubrey have finalized a record-breaking four-year, $28 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid kicker in the NFL. The deal includes $20 million guaranteed and comes just ahead of the 2026 NFL draft.
The offseason drama surrounding the Dallas Cowboys and kicker Brandon Aubrey has finally come to an end, with the two sides agreeing to a record-breaking contract extension. The Cowboys placed Aubrey under the second-round restricted free agent tender earlier this offseason, allowing him to shop his talents elsewhere. That never came to fruition, and once the deadline passed, talks between the two sides resumed.
On Monday, three days before the NFL draft commences, Aubrey's new deal is a four-year, $28 million extension worth $7 million a year with $20 million guaranteed.
Teams had until April 17 to make Aubrey an offer, which the Cowboys could've matched or received a second-round pick as compensation. The team had exchanged offers throughout and made it clear publicly they were willing to make the three-year kicker with three All-Pro nods (one First-Team) a rich man. When the deadline for outside teams passed, the kicker was locked into a one-year tender worth $5.76 million.
It gave Dallas more leverage in contract talks and seemingly bringing Aubrey and his agent, Todd France, back to the bargaining table. The two sides now have a deal that works for both sides as Aubrey becomes the highest-paid kicker in the league, and the Cowboys aren't paying the $10 million stance price point this back-and-forth began with.
The Cowboys can now shift their focus to Pro-Bowl wide receiver George Pickens as they look to get a deal done with him as well.
