The Boston Red Sox's 2026 campaign is only six weeks old, but there's already been enough drama for an entire season.
Much of it occurred in late April when the Red Sox shockingly fired Alex Cora and much of his coaching staff after the team's 10-17 start.
Many have speculated that there was a disconnect between Cora and Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow about how they wanted to run the team. However, Breslow denied those rumors during his phone interview with WEEI on Thursday.
"No, I don't think so," Breslow said. "We try to make decisions collaboratively... That's why Alex was a part of our conversations through the offseason and spring training as we put the roster together."
To Breslow's point, Cora also acknowledged and having input on roster construction and management leading up to the season.

There have also been rumors of clubhouse friction between veterans and young players based on the conflicting comments of Willson Contreras and Marcelo Mayer last Sunday. However, Breslow denied those rumors as well.
"No, not at all. Being around the guys, and especially around the last week and a half or so, watching them interact in the clubhouse, absolutely not," Breslow said.
Team insider Jared Carrabis also said there was no beef between Contreras and Mayer, supporting Breslow's observation.
Despite its rocky start, Boston seems to be coming together under its new coaching staff, going 6-4 under interim manager Chad Tracy and feeling more "loose," per Contreras. If there was any clubhouse tension, it may have dissipated by now.
