Dos Santos, who survived the horrific New Yearâs Eve fire at the Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, heroically re-entering the building in order to find and save his girlfriend, suffered burns on 30% of his body, including on his head, his arms and his torso.
Despite spending several weeks in hospital, he was able to resume training and last week, only 100 days after the fire, he appeared for the Metz reserve team in a National 3 match against Balagne.
Long admired at the club for his dedication and strength of character, Dos Santos will hope to begin to establish himself in the left-back berth, where Metz have struggled to replace fellow home-grown talent and former captain Matthieu Udol, who joined RC Lens last summer.
