CSU Pueblo softball team extended their winning streak to 18 games after defeating UCCS 8-5, completing a four-game sweep. The Thunderwolves rallied in the seventh inning with key home runs from Madelyn Huerta and Gissel Morales-Cermeno.
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The CSU Pueblo softball team has the second longest winning streak in the RMAC as they went into Saturday, April 11, having won 16 straight games. After defeating UCCS in the first of another doubleheader, it took more work to keep the streak alive.
The Thunderwolves trailed the Mountain Lions for most of the series finale. Down one run going into the seventh inning, that’s when the CSU Pueblo bats came to life. It started with a Madelyn Huerta solo home run to center field which tied the game at 4. After with two runners on, Gissel Morales-Cermeno launched another home run to give the Thunderwolves a 7-4 lead.
CSU Pueblo would go on to score five in the seventh inning and secured their 18th consecutive win defeating the Mountain Lions 8-5 and completing the four-game sweep. The Thunderwolves will now look to extend their winning streak Friday, April 17, when they begin their next series against MSU Denver at Rawlings Softball Complex in Pueblo.
