On Saturday, April 18, Chicago Cubs fans put a new spin on the word unique when it comes to hot dogs. Ninety-five fans in hot-dog costumes ran wild in the left-field bleachers at Wrigley Field during a game against the New York Mets.

Why? Well, because the birthday girl told them to do so.
Marquee Sports Network reporter Elise Menaker got the story straight from the lead hot dog’s mouth.
“I didn’t go to journalism school for nothing,” said Menaker, who dressed as a hot dog for the occasion. “If you’ve been in the market for a hot-dog costume and can’t find one, I’ll tell you why. … Kimberly Odom and her friends, they literally bought them all.”
Odom celebrated her 50th birthday at the Cubs game with one directive for friends who wanted to attend the game with her.
“They all wanted to come, and I said I have one requirement,” Odom said, per MLB.com. “You must wear a hot-dog costume. Because we’re at a baseball game and also no ketchup.”
Each costume came with a name tag and recipe for a Chicago-style hot dog.
During her report, Menaker said Odom initially didn’t want to do the interview because she thought she might get too emotional. Odom is a big Cubs fan who has traveled to watch the team play in London and Tokyo.
The fans aimed to add a unique and humorous twist to the game experience.

“I’m feeling so happy,” said Odom, who said she lives in Atlanta. “Of course, I want a W. We have our flag. We’re going to wave it. We’re feeling it.”
Eventually, Odom and the rest of the Cubs fans got to wave their “W” flags. Chicago defeated the Mets 4-2 behind a three-run home run from pinch-hitter Carson Kelly to hand New York its 10th consecutive defeat.
The Cubs and Mets finish off their three-game series at 2:20 p.m. ET Sunday, presumably with fewer hot dogs in the bleachers.
