Auburn baseball is projected to secure a national host seed for the NCAA Regionals, ranking No. 8 in D1Baseball's latest predictions. They are set to host Miami, UAB, and St. John's in the Auburn Regional.
Auburn baseball's recent hot streak has not only sent them skyrocketing up the SEC standings but has boosted their stock in the latest NCAA Regional projections.
The NCAA Regionals get underway in a month, and No. 8 Auburn is in a great position to solidify a national host seed for the second-straight season. D1Baseball's latest NCAA Field of 64 Projections show Auburn grabbing the final national host seed at No. 8, and is slated to host Miami, UAB, and St. John's in the Auburn Regional.
The Miami Hurricanes enter their upcoming weekend series with NC State with a 32-12 record and a 12-9 mark in ACC play. The Hurricanes possess three hitters with over 11 home runs and 40 RBI in Derek Williams, Daniel Cuvet, and Alex Sosa, and three pitchers, Rob Evans, AJ Ciscar, and Lazaro Collera, with over 50 strikeouts. Auburn is 1-0 against UAB this season and is slated to play the Blazers again on May 5 at Regions Park in Birmingham. The Blazers are known for their power, with JP Head leading the charge with 16 home runs, which ranks No. 32 nationally. Outside of Head, UAB has seven batters who have five or more home runs, and five total players with 30 or more RBI. Finally, St. John's is second in the Big East standings, behind only Creighton, with a 9-3 mark in conference play.
The Auburn Regional is paired with the Corvallis Regional in D1Baseball's latest projection. Boston College, Gonzaga, and Air Force are projected to compete in the regional hosted by Oregon State.
The final month of SEC play begins Friday for Auburn when they travel to College Station to face No. 7 Texas A&M at Blue Bell Park. The series begins a stretch of three straight series against top-10 teams, with a road trip to No. 9 Mississippi State and a home tilt with No. 5 Georgia remaining on the docket.
