Rushing, however, was then called for a pitch-clock violation, resulting in strike three and the end of the inning.

After the game, manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Rushing was in the right, though he alleged no ill will on the part of the umpire.
âDalton called timeout, and I just saw the replay. He called timeout and he said it twice and I just think the umpire didnât hear it clearly,â Roberts said. âI know he wasnât just trying to blatantly do wrong by Dalton, but I just donât think he heard it. Roberts added that he âwasnât surprisedâ that Rushing was upset after that strikeout.
âHe was upset because he called time out,â Roberts said.
