Dalton Smith has withdrawn from his scheduled June 6 title defense against Alberto Puello, but the show will go on with a new world title main event.
In the new main event, Ricardo Sandoval will defend his WBC and WBA flyweight titles against Galal Yafai.
Sandoval (27-2, 18 KO) is coming off of a big upset win over Kenshiro Teraji last July in Japan, where he won both of those titles, and now makes his first defense against Yafai (9-0, 7 KO), who hasn’t fought since June of 2025, when he lost a decision to Francisco Rodriguez Jr, which was later changed to a no-contest due to Rodriguez failing his anti-doping test.
Yafai, 33, took a real beating in that fight, and no matter if the result was changed, that’s going to be the real question for the 33-year-old former Olympic gold medalist. How will he respond to the physical and mental tolls that fight had to take?
Sandoval, 27, has won seven in a row since a 2022 loss to David Jimenez, a razor-thin majority decision, and he’ll have to go into hostile territory again to keep that streak going.
No word on the Smith vs Puello fight being rescheduled just yet, but it will have to be eventually if Smith wants to keep the title he won in January, as Puello is a mandatory order from the WBC.
The specific reason for Dalton Smith's withdrawal from the title fight has not been disclosed.
Ricardo Sandoval will defend his WBC and WBA flyweight titles against Galal Yafai on June 6.
Galal Yafai has a professional record of 9 wins and 0 losses, with 7 of those wins coming by knockout.
