The 2026 NFL Draft is behind us. Rookie minicamps begin this weekend, although the Washington Commanders will hold theirs next weekend, and analysts and experts are deep-diving into each team's draft class to criticize, grade, praise, and discuss needs yet to be met. NFL coaches and GMs are focusing harder on the personnel they currently have while determining who else (if anyone) needs to be brought in.
Commanders head coach Dan Quinn was recently asked about his new rookie, Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles. The Commanders were thrilled he fell to them at No. 7, and Quinn is ecstatic to coach the young phenom.
First, the host of this segment discusses the mental capacity of Styles. He's played at different levels, and he enrolled at Ohio State early as a 17-year-old. He already has 46 starts, and he's changed positions, which showcases the mental part of his game.
"He (Adam Peters) kept saying, like at that pick, we're going to get a really good player," Quinn said. "And so, were we fortunate that he was there. But I think that does speak to there's a humility, an older soul, you know, like just a real confidence about him, in a way. So he's, you know, older than his age. And so I know even leaving high school early to get going, but man, just the things that he stands for, the traits, the discipline, you know, those are the types that are rare.
"Then to see it take off over the last couple of years with signal calling and moving from safety down to back, or knowing what you want to get better at. And then you saw that really take place during the season, and I think we'll continue to see that with him as he's getting into the NFL, just because, like, there's no limit to what I think this guy can be and the work that he's going to put in, that's a big deal."
In the grand scheme of things, everyone has a ceiling, right? Everyone has a limit to their capabilities. So, for Quinn to come out and say that he doesn't see Styles having a limit speaks to the ceiling this young player has. And, he's right. If you look at film of Styles over his years at Ohio State and compare it to the stats he put up, there's no question that he's done nothing but improve.

Styles' youth benefits him in this aspect because he will continue to develop and improve over the next few years before he truly realizes his potential. And that's got to be a scary thought for teams facing the Commanders in the future.
