Florida State softball captured a win on senior day, as they celebrated Makenna Reid and Madi Frey. The Seminoles ended up with a series sweep of the North Carolina Tar Heels, as they look to regain first place in the ACC.
Jazzy Francik had an easy inning of the Tar Heels, as she sat them down 1-2-3, capping it off with a strike out looking.

In the bottom of the frame, Isa Torres led off with a single. Tow outs later, Anna Hinde joined her on base after a single. Bella Ruggiero followed with a base knock of her own, bringing in Torres.

UNC stared to piece things together in this inning, as a single and sacrifice bunt had a runner on second base. Soon they had runners on the corners, and with two outs, they tied the game at 1-1.
Francik had a bit more traffic on the bases in the top of the inning, but still kept it tied for her offense.
Against UNC’s reliever, Jim Livengood, Ruggiero and Kennedy Harp both reached safely, before two outs brought up Hayley Griggs. Her one out single put FSU back in the lead, 3-1.

UNC chose to intentionally walk Torres with two outs, bringing up Jaysoni Beachum. Her RBI single extended the lead, before Ashtyn Daley made it 7-0. Her three run homerun opened the flood gates for the offense, as they made their way to the fifth inning.

The Tar Heels looked to get a few runs back, but after the first out by Francik, it brought up Emily LeGette. Her solo shot off of Francik only up FSU up six runs heading into the bottom of the fifth.
A Harp double led off the bottom of the inning, and a Griggs single put runners on the corners. A second walk to Torres loaded the bases, and with one out, Beachum’s walk against Carly Maxton made it 8-1.
After the bases loaded walk, UNC went to Nikki Harris out of the bullpen. In relief, facing a potential run rule, she gave up a single to Danley. The two runs batted in was enough for the eight run differential, and giving the Seminoles the series sweep.
FSU will host the Florida Gators for a instate midweek matchup on April 22nd at 6 pm on ESPN2
