Roberts first gave his startersâwho pitched 21.2 innings and allowed just two runsâcredit first, but made sure to praise his coaches as well.
âIt says a lot about our pitching staff in total,â Roberts said. âIt starts with the starters going deep. I think our âpen is very rested. Thatâs a really good thing, especially getting through April. But canât say enough about the pitching staff â [Mark Prior], [Connor McGuinness], [Josh Bard], all those guys do a great job.â
The Dodgers currently rank seventh in MLB in ERA, posting a 3.58 mark through 18 games.

After their series sweep over the Mets, the Dodgers have three starting pitchers with an ERA lower than 3.00.
Shohei Ohtani has the best ERA in the group, posting a 0.50 mark after allowing his first earned run of the season in his start against the Mets on Wednesday. He struck out 10 batters in that outing, and has 18 strikeouts on the season.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto has the second best ERA on the team with a 2.10 mark, and heâs picked up right where he left off last season. He leads the team with 25.2 innings pitched, and also has the least walks among their starters.
Justin Wrobleski has been a big surprise for the Dodgers this year, and just had the best performance of his career. He threw eight scoreless innings against the Mets, and has settled into his new spot in the Dodgersâ rotation well.
The Dodgers remaining starters, Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki and Emmet Sheehan, havenât been disappointing, just not quite as good as their compatriots. Glasnow still has the second-lowest FIP (2.82) on the team despite his 4.00 ERA, and both Sasaki and Sheehan have shown flashes of brilliance early in the season.
The Dodgersâ next series comes against the Colorado Rockies on the roadâa four-game set.
Glasnow will lead off the series on Friday, with Sheehan pitching Saturday and Sasaki on Friday. Wrobleski will take the final game of the series Monday.
