A former Atlantic 10 Conference guard is joining Louisville basketball for Year 3 of the Pat Kelsey era by way of the NCAA transfer portal.
De'Shayne Montgomery, a 6-foot-4 junior who spent last season at Dayton, announced his commitment to the Cardinals on Friday in an Instagram post, collaborating with On3's Joe Tipton.
Montgomery stopped by UofL's campus for a visit Wednesday.
Montgomery, who hails from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, started 36 of the Flyers' 37 games in 2025-26, averaging 30.7 minutes per contest. He finished second on the team in scoring with 13.4 points on 49% shooting (33.5% from 3-point range) while grabbing four rebounds and dishing out 2.1 assists (against 1.9 turnovers) per appearance en route to third-team all-conference honors.
His 77 steals (2.1 per game) were good for first on the team and second in the second in the A-10.
Louisville will be Montgomery's fourth program in as many years. He began his collegiate career at Mount St. Mary's in 2023-24, then made a stop at Georgia in 2024-25 before joining Dayton for this past season.
Montgomery is the Cards' fifth commitment of the transfer cycle, joining former Kansas forward Flory Bidunga, former Iowa forward , former wing  and former Oregon point guard .

Two members of Kelsey's 2025-26 roster are returning for Year 3 of his tenure: former NBA G League guard London Johnson, who redshirted the remainder of the season after joining UofL in December, and Adrian Wooley, one of only four guys who appeared in all 35 games of the campaign.
