Del Piero tells Capello: ‘One positive for Arsenal’ in Champions League Final

Fabio Capello is questioning whether Arsenal’s defence will be able to handle the speed of PSG or Bayern Munich’s attack in the Champions League Final. In response, Alessandro Del Piero says, ‘Anything can happen in a final, but over two legs, they wouldn’t have come out alive.’

Italian football legends Del Piero, Capello and Alessandro Costacurta discussed Arsenal’s chances to win the Champions League after the Gunners beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 on Tuesday to qualify for the Final.

“The question I ask myself is: will Arsenal’s defence be able to stop one of the two teams they’ll face in terms of speed?” Capello asked during Sky Sport Italia’s post-match show.

“Both Paris and Bayern have three or four positions where they can do whatever they want. Constant one-on-one situations. Right, left, centre. They are fast, strong, and they know how to shoot and score goals,” Del Piero replied.

“The positive thing for Arsenal is that it is a final. In my opinion, over the two legs, they wouldn’t have come out alive against either of them. In a final, anything can happen; there are many dynamics.”

Del Piero won the Champions League once as a footballer with Juventus, but lost Finals in 1997, 1998 and 2003.
