Victor Wembanyama had a magnificent game, but it was not enough for the San Antonio Spurs as Anthony Edwards led the Minnesota Timberwolves to take Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
The Spurs forward and Defensive Player of the Year was an excellent rim protector on Monday, as he had 12 blocks in a triple-double performance, also including 11 points and 15 rebounds. It was an NBA playoff record for most blocks in the game.
However, while he was excellent on defense, his offense was not nearly half as good.
Wemby shot highly inefficiently, converting only 5 of 17 field goal attempts, including going 0-for-8 from the 3-point line. He also had five assists against three turnovers.

It was a really close game between the Spurs and the Timberwolves. The game went down to the final possession after the Wolves stitched a 7-0 run to catch up with the Spurs and take the lead.
Dylan Harper and Victor Wembanyama trimmed the lead with their shots, but Julian Champagnie missed the buzzer-beating 3-point shot as the Timberwolves prevailed 104-102.
Timberwolves' stars Mike Conley and Naz Reid were the real difference makers in the close game. Both were +13 and +15, respectively, on the floor. Reid missed out on a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. Meanwhile, Conley scored 12 points on 4-of-7 three-point shooting.
