The Lions won each of last season's meetings in Ben Johnson's first season at the helm of the Bears. Detroit routed Chicago in Week 2, 52-21, at Ford Field. Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed 23-of-28 passes for 334 yards and five touchdowns in that Week 2 victory. Amon-Ra St. Brown reeled in nine grabs for 115 yards and three scores.
Then, in the regular-season finale, Jake Bates booted through a 42-yard field goal as time expired as the Lions downed the Bears, 19-16. The win in the Windy City secured a fourth straight winning season for Detroit.
Detroit last hosted the Bears on Thanksgiving in 2024, topping Chicago, 23-20, behind a pair of touchdown passes from Goff. At the time, it snapped a seven-game Thanksgiving Day losing streak and was part of an eventual 11 consecutive wins during the 2024 season en route to the NFC's No. 1 seed.
