Detroit Tigers infielder John Peck earned weekly honors after a standout performance, hitting four home runs and nine RBIs for Double-A Erie. He was recognized on Baseball America's hot sheet and MLB Pipeline's Prospect Team of the Week.
Infielder John Peck is among the Detroit Tigers' top prospects, in his fourth season in the organization after he was selected in the seventh round of the MLB Draft.
Last week, he authored a stretch that was among not only the best in the organization, but in the minors.
Tigers prospect John Peck walloped four doubles and four home runs last week for Double-A Erie.
Peck, 23, put together a week for Double-A Erie in which he went 10 for 19 with four home runs and nine RBIs, helping him land on both Baseball America's weekly "hot sheet," as well as MLB Pipeline's Prospect Team of the Week, which were both released Monday.
Entering Monday, Peck is hitting .278 with an .869 OPS, bolstered by a week that also included four doubles. His six home runs on the season are more than halfway to last year's total of 11 following "the best week of his pro career," Baseball America's J.J. Cooper writes.
"He’s worth keeping an eye on as a multi-position infielder with a nice mix of defensive chops and surprising power," writes Cooper. "Peck can get a tad too aggressive, but in weeks like this, it’s hard to complain about the results."
Baseball America ranked Peck No. 7 on its hot sheet, which is a snapshot of who had the best week in the minors, and not a ranking of the top prospects. Pipeline's team of the week is dotted with five top-100 prospects, but Peck landed a spot at second base, though he's also played shortstop and third base for the SeaWolves.
"Peck has split his time this season across three infield positions, largley shortstop and second base," Pipeline's Ben Weinrib writes, "but the one consistent thing is he's mashing regardless of his defensive home."
Peck, a Pepperdine product selected No. 200 overall, is part of a 2023 Tigers draft class that is fronted by outfielder Max Clark () and infielder Kevin McGonigle (No. 37). Clark, 21, has risen to Triple-A Toledo, and , while the 21-year-old McGonigle has been .
