Dez Bryant has pushed back against the Dallas Wings shutting down a question about Azzi Fuddâs relationship with Paige Bueckers, making it clear he sees nothing wrong with it being asked.
The moment came during Fuddâs introductory press conference, where a reporter attempted to ask about her relationship with Bueckers.
Before she could respond, a Wings staffer stepped in and declined to comment, instantly turning what could have been a routine exchange into a wider debate about media access and player treatment.

Reacting via his official X handle, the former NFL wide receiver did not hesitate.
âHey, hey, hey⊠thatâs part of the game. From the test of time, nothing has been off limits. That reporter had the right to ask that question,â Bryant wrote.
He added, âIf they are dating [and] they are dating whatâs the problem? Women wanting to be paid millions of dollars come with it all. When hasnât the media been in an athleteâs personal business?â
For Bryant, the issue is simple. Once players step into that spotlight, the questions are not limited to just basketball.

The situation itself was not built on speculation. Fudd and Bueckers had already gone public with their relationship before the 2026 WNBA Draft, and their reunion in Dallas only increased the attention.
During the press conference, that context made the question inevitable, but the team chose to shut it down before Fudd could answer.
That decision is what escalated everything. Instead of the moment passing naturally, it created a split over whether the Wings protected their player or over-controlled the narrative.
Some viewed it as a reasonable boundary, while others argued it only amplified attention around a public relationship involving two No. 1 picks now on the same team.
That is why Bryantâs reaction carried weight. In his view, the question was never the issue. The response to it was.
