Playing in the National League West, the Arizona Diamondbacks need all the help they can get. It's hard keeping up with the likes of the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, and San Francisco Giants each year.
While they have been able to acquire star players in trades, look no further than the Zac Gallen trade, but it also helps to make quality picks in the first round and build from within.
This summer, the D-backs will be drafting 15th overall in the first round. And while they will miss out on some elite talent, they will have some great baseball players to choose from when they are on the clock.

Over the years, the Diamondbacks have taken a good mix of high school and college talent in the first round.
However, the number of elite college bats on the board this year cannot be overlooked. Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter believes the D-backs will take one of these players, selecting LSU outfielder Derek Curiel with the 15th overall pick.
"Curiel has a 60-grade hit tool and looks like a safe bet to stick in center field, which alone is enough to make him a first-round prospect. He is hitting 359/.437/.545 with 15 extra-base hits and 10 steals as a draft-eligible sophomore after a terrific true freshman campaign for last year's national champions."
After an outstanding season as a freshman last year, Curiel is doing much of the same this year. He is hitting the ball all around the field and is swiping bags when he sees fit.
This could be a great addition to the D-backs' organization, especially if he can stick in center field like many scouts believe he will be able to do. He has the speed to handle the position and the glove to back it up.
The specific SEC outfielder linked to the Diamondbacks has not been named in the available information.
The Diamondbacks are looking to strengthen their outfield position as they prepare for the upcoming draft.
The MLB draft is scheduled for this summer, though the exact date has not been specified.
