The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Bucs still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 12 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup for the team and who they may add to the roster through the draft in a class that many are saying could be one of generational wealth.
Bleacher Report recently released the latest way-too-early 2027 NFL mock draft of the cycle, which has the team going offense in a move we have seen a ton in mocks early on in the mix of it all. They have the Bucs projected to land Oregon tight end Jarami Johnson, who steps into the role that 2026 first-round pick Kenyon Sadiq abandoned.
They explain the Johnson pick, writing, "For the Buccaneers, Cade Otton is a rock-solid tight end, hence why he received a three-year contract extension this offseason. Johnson is a more dynamic weapon in the passing game, though. The two can form a complementary duo, while the offense leans heavily on 12 personnel."
The Bucs offense is loaded with talent; we all know that. But what if they gave Baker Mayfield a dynamic pass catcher at the position to work with Cade Otton in rotation? You could even have Johnson working as a big slot option if the team moves on from Chris Godwin in 2027.
