Before welcoming the Miami Marlins on Tuesday for a three-game series, the Los Angeles Dodgers received a positive update on right-hander Edwin Diaz. Diaz has been on the injured list since April 20 after loose bodies were found in his elbow.
According to Diaz, via SportsNetLA, five loose bodies were removed from his elbow, and he's feeling better. Diaz said that having the bodies removed was âthe best case scenarioâ and will put him in line to return during the second half of the season.
Diaz added that there was no further damage or injury to his right arm, and he has more mobility after having the surgery. Diaz is one of eight Dodgers arms who occupy the injured list.
While Diaz is on the injured list, left-hander Tanner Scott will be counted on to close out games. Scott has experience as a closer during his time with the Marlins (50) and the San Diego Padres (4). He was also the Dodgers' closer during the first year of his four-year ($72 million) contract.

Since Diaz has gone on the injured list, Scott has been a perfect one-for-one in his save chances. If, for some reason, Scott struggles, as he did in 2025 (10 blown saves and 4.74 ERA), left-hander Alex Vesia would be the next man up.
Vesia, 30, is having a great season â a 1.74 ERA in 12 games â and is two-for-two in save opportunities.
