Los Angeles Dodgers star pitcher Blake Snell is set to make significant progress in his injury recovery process.
Snell will begin his rehab assignment with the Dodgers' Single-A Ontario Tower Buzzers. The Tower Buzzers shared the news via X.
Snell has yet to make his season debut due to a shoulder injury.
The Dodgers have finally cleared Snell to pitch in a game after completing a live batting practice session last week. There is a chance that the two-time Cy Young winner will need all 30 days of his rehab process to get back into form.
If all goes well, the Dodgers could expect the southpaw to make his season debut mid-to-late May.
The 33-year-old is in his second season in Los Angeles. Snell signed a five-year, $182 million contract with the Dodgers in November 2024. The deal includes a signing bonus of $52 million and significant deferred money.
His time in Los Angeles has been marred by injuries; however, when he's been on the mound, Snell has been sharp. He's recorded a 5-4 record with a 2.35 ERA, 72 strikeouts, a 174 ERA+ and a 1.25 WHIP in 11 starts and 61.1 innings pitched.
The Dodgers have been without one of their top arms in the starting rotation, yet they still hold the best record in all of baseball. Los Angeles has a 16-6 record and sits at the top of the National League West by one game.
In the meantime, Dodgers left-handed pitcher Justin Wrobleski has been doing his part and then some, recording an impressive 1.88 ERA in four games and three starts. Once Snell gets back to form, the Dodgers' rotation will once again be full and a force to be reckoned with if it isn't already.
