Dodgers Blow Lead Late, Drop Second Game in a Row to Rockies

The Rockies fought back in the fourth inning, though, as TJ Rumfield singled in Mickey Moniak to put the Rockies on the board.

Colorado scored again in the bottom of the fifth, as Kyle Karros hit a 448-foot bomb off of Sasaki for his first home run of the season. The hosts kept pushing afterwards, and tied the game up by the end of the inning with a double and a single.

The Dodgers didn’t waste any time retaking the lead, as Freeland hit another RBI single to restore the Dodgers’ one-run advantage.

After that, though, it was all Rockies.

Blake Treinen came into the game in the seventh inning and promptly gave up a double and a two-run homer, to give the Rockies the lead, then gave up another double and a single as the Rockies extended their advantage to two runs.

The Dodgers brought in Edwin Diaz for the bottom of the eighth, and the Rockies continued adding to their lead afterwards. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases before Diaz could record an out, and a single from pinch-hitter Brenton Doyle added two more runs to the Rockies’ total.

Kyle Hurt relieved Diaz afterwards and got out of the inning, though one more run came across.

The Dodgers threatened a comeback in the ninth inning, scoring two runs and bringing the tying run to the plate, but full short.

LA has lost two of their three games against the Rockies this series, but have the opportunity to split the series with a win in Monday’s game. They’ll hope Justin Wrobleski can stay hot and help them salvage the series despite their losses.
