The Los Angeles Dodgers added left-handed pitcher Charlie Barnes off waivers from the Chicago Cubs, and to make room, they are moving utility player Tommy Edman to the 60-day injured list.
Edman started the season on the injured list, and since he has not been moved off it, the Dodgers can retroactively put him on the 60-day injured list and still activate him on May 24th.
The switch-hitter has been slowly progressing from his ankle surgery recovery.
He made a ton of progress during Spring Training and the early part of the season, taking part in live batting practice, though due to the nature of the injury, his big measuring stick will be his sprint ability.
The Dodgers moved Tommy Edman to the 60-day injured list to make room for newly claimed pitcher Charlie Barnes, as Edman has not been activated from the injured list since the season started.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has said that Edman is not where he needs to be running-wise yet as the team looks to ease him in.
Most importantly, the Dodgers are more than fine to have Edman take his time with Alex Freeland and Hyeseong Kim holding their own.
The battle between the two infielders is still ongoing. Kike Hernandez and Mookie Betts are returning soon, which will likely lead to Santiago Espinal being designated for assignment, but one of Kim, Freeland, or Alex Call will also need to go down.
Barnes is a 30-year-old minor-league journeyman who has already made his MLB debut, but he has not achieved any sustained success.
He had a 5.92 ERA over nine games, eight of which were starts, and threw a total of 38 innings for the Minnesota Twins.
After a poor run in the majors, Barnes moved to the KBO in Korea, where he pitched for three years before returning stateside to join the Cincinnati Reds.
Barnes struggled in Triple-A with the Reds, leading to more time overseas before getting a shot with the Cubs in 2026.
He had a 3.04 ERA in seven games for the Cubs’ Triple-A team, and an injury crisis in the majors prompted the team to give him a call-up. He pitched in one game, throwing three innings and allowing three earned runs.
The Cubs designated him for assignment after his major league outing, and now, the Dodgers have added him to the fold as their 29th pitcher, either on the 40-man roster or the injured list.
