Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts provided some clarity on superstar Mookie Betts' potential return to the lineup.
Prior to the Dodgers' win over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday, Roberts gave a more direct timeframe for when the four-time champion could be back on the field.
"Yeah, I think that's fair. Yeah," Roberts said when asked if it would be a couple weeks.
Roberts mentioned that Betts has been pain-free, a great sign for the Dodgers and their lineup.
Betts has missed the last three weeks due to an oblique strain. The 33-year-old superstar suffered the injury on April 4 in a contest against the Washington Nationals.
He felt discomfort after a checked swing and while running the bases, leading to his placement on the 10-day injured list on April 5.
Although Betts was placed on the 10-day IL, considering the uncertainty around oblique injuries, the Dodgers wavered on the side of caution. However, Betts has progressed well, and there is a chance that he is back in the lineup a lot sooner than the projected four-to-six-week mark.
Betts' loss was a huge blow to the team, which required them to lean heavily on Hyeseong Kim and Miguel Rojas. The two infielders have been solid in the time being, especially Kim. In 15 games, the Korean native is slashing .324/.415/.471 with a .885 OPS, one home run, five RBIs and 11 hits in 34 at-bats.
Mookie Betts is expected to return in a couple of weeks, according to manager Dave Roberts.

Mookie Betts' return is crucial for the Dodgers as he is a key player, and his presence will strengthen the team's lineup.

While there is more clarity on Betts and his timeline, it's unclear if he will embark on a rehab assignment. Roberts mentioned in the past that the Tennessee native prefers not to go on rehab, but it will be a possibility if that is the best course of action for him.
