Ohtani pitched against the Giants just a few weeks ago, and he had a rather successful outing as well. He went six scoreless innings against them, allowing only five hits while avoiding issuing any free passes. He logged seven strikeouts during the outing as well.
The right-hander has been one of the Dodgersâ most effective pitchers altogether, posting a 0.97 ERA through his first six starts of the season. All six of his appearances this year have counted as quality starts, and he has struck out 42 batters in his 37 innings pitched this season.
Shortstop Mookie Betts steps into the leadoff spot due to Ohtaniâs absence, and catcher Will Smith moves up to the No. 2 spot against a left-hander. First baseman Freddie Freeman will bat third, followed by center fielder Andy Pages in the cleanup spot.
Right fielder Kyle Tucker will bat fifth in the order, with fellow Teoscar Hernandez, who is making his first appearance as a designated hitter this season. Veteran infielder Miguel Rojas slides into the lineup as the second baseman and will bat seventh, followed by left fielder Alex Call and third baseman Santiago Espinal.
Left-hander Robbie Ray takes the mound for the Dodgers, and will make his first start of the season against LA. He is a bright spot in the Giantsâ rotation, having made eight starts already and posting a 2.76 ERA through 45.2 innings pitched.
The Dodgers will look to break out of their slump against the Giants, against whom theyâve won just one of their five matchups this season. First pitch for the final game of the series comes at 7:10 p.m. PT.
