The offense did not travel with the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Bay Area.
After scoring 28 runs in their four-game series in Colorado, the Dodgers' offense mustered just one run in a 3-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto took the bump for the Dodgers and ran into some trouble early.
The Giants' offense, which hasn't produced much throughout the first 22 games of the season, jumped on Yamamoto early in the first inning for three runs on four hits.
There were also plenty of defensive blunders that highlighted the first inning.
One in particular was a close call collision between center fielder Alex Call and left fielder Teoscar Hernández. The two seemed to be OK after the bump and, somehow, Call stuck with the catch for out No. 1.
After a rough first inning, Yamamoto settled down on the mound.
He faced 22 batters after the first frame and retired 19 of them, including striking out the side in his last inning of work.
Yamamoto tossed his fifth straight quality start of the season, recording seven innings and giving up three earned runs on six hits with seven strikeouts.
Despite the early struggles, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was impressed with the bounceback.
"I think it just shows why he's the staff ace," Roberts said. "For him to still manage the pitch count, give up three runs and the go seven innings and give us a chance to win the game says alot about him."
The Dodgers' offense, on the other hand, was the downfall.
And it wasn't like the Dodgers did not have any opportunities to score — they had plenty — especially in the fourth inning in a bases-loaded situation.

With one out in the fourth, Call was not able to cash in any runs as he grounded into an inning-ending double play.
In total, the Dodgers left eight runners on base and walked a total of seven times, but the three hits they sprinkled in did not cut it.
With the loss, the Dodgers drop to 16-7 on the season. Looking ahead to Wednesday, Shohei Ohtani takes the bump and, as confirmed on Monday by Roberts, he will play a role as a two-way hitter.
