Oklahoma linebacker Owen Heinecke granted an extra year of eligibility for 2026 after court ruling.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded for 6-foot-3 right-handed pitcher Chayce McDermott from the Baltimore Orioles. McDermott will report to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The Los Angeles Dodgers saw a chance to add to their pitching depth and took it.
On Thursday, they agreed to a trade with the Baltimore Orioles to acquire Chayce McDermott.
Multiple reports were on top of the deal just after noon Los Angeles time. Dodgers writer Jack Harris reports that McDermott is heading to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

McDermott is a 6-foot-3, 27-year old pitcher originally from Anderson, Indiana.
He was a fourth-round pick by the Houston Astros in the 2021 MLB Draft out of Ball State.
McDermott has appeared in five MLB games across the 2024 and 2025 seasons with the Baltimore Orioles -- he gave up 18 runs in 12.2 innings (12.79 ERA).
The problem in those outings for McDermott was control. He walked 14 guys across those 12.2 innings. He did have nine strikeouts.

McDermott has already had five appearances this season for Triple-A Norfolk, where he has allowed four runs in 5.1 innings (6.75 ERA).
The reason he was available is that the Orioles designated McDermott for assignment to remove him from the 40-man roster. The Dodgers pounced at the opportunity to claim him and swing a small trade to bring him aboard.
