PCA, who grew up in Sherman Oaks and attended Harvard-Westlake, grew up a Cubs fan and has praised Chicagoans â but heâs done it at the expense of Los Angeles.
âI love Chicago more and more. Itâs just an incredible city. The people are great,â he told Wayne Drehs of Chicago magazine. âThey give a sâ. They arenât just baseball fans who go to the game like Dodgers fans to take pictures or whatever. They are paying attention. They care.â
Naturally, that drew quite a bit of attention, much of it negative in Southern California.
But Crow-Armstrong didnât back down. He was full of praise for Dodgers players Shohei Ohtani, and , that theyâre âthe guys whoâve given these fans the reason to be fans.â

But he said growing up in LA, he never connected with Dodgers fans.
âAll fans fight and stuff, but I remember putting the Giants fan in a coma,â he said. âThat stuck with me as a kid. Just little things, sitting in the stands, nasty stuff goes on that I didnât always experience at other ballparks.â
As Dodgers Nationâs Doug McKain pointed out when PCAâs comments first surfaced, âDodgers fans are going to show PCA they âgive a sh*t.'â
As detailed by Steve Henson of the Los Angeles Times, PCA may have been born and raised in Southern California, but his family was not Dodgers fans.
In fact, he was born into a Cubs family.
His father, an Illinois native, actually prohibited his son from rooting for the Dodgers or Cubs rivals the St. Louis Cardinals.
âGrowing up in L.A., my dad gave me a couple of rules. 1) I couldnât root for the Dodgers. 2) I couldnât root for the Cardinals,â PCA wrote in The Playersâ Tribune last year.
âHeâs from Naperville, just outside Chicago. He didnât force me to be a Cubs fan, but letâs just say it was heavily encouraged.â
