Miami Dolphins players are impressed with new coach Jeff Hafley, praising his approach and leadership style. Hafley aims to instill a culture of toughness and accountability as he transitions from the Green Bay Packers to Miami.
Miami Dolphins players say they have strong first impressions of coach Jeff Hafley.
"Yeah, Coach Haf man, just a good guy, man," Dolphins edge rusher David Ojabo said. "He's about his business. He says, 'You show me better than you can tell me.' He even came in and said, you know, for him, he's not about to tell us why."
Hafley comes to Miami as former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator and Boston College head coach. He wants to establish a culture of physical and mental toughness and accountability.
"Obviously, he comes from a winning culture in Green Bay," safety Lonnie Johnson said. "But we're trying to find our own identity here with the Miami Dolphins. Not going to be the same. I'm not going to say it's going to be the same. But we're going to go out there and do what we have to do and try to find our standard and set the standard and let it be that."
The Dolphins had three players visit with the local media on a Zoom call, as the organized team activities are under way in Miami Gardens.
Tight end Greg Dulcich, unlike Ojabo and Johnson, is returning to the Dolphins on his new deal.
"Coach Haf is dialed," Dulcich said. "We've got high standards, and I think that's what you want, especially when you get a new head coach and everyone has so far bought in. And the challenge is going to be I mean, it's what week two of the off -season program now. The standard is going to be living up to that, you know, for every single week.
"It's easy to do it in the first week, you know, kind of listening to what he has to say, because he's always going to bring the juice, I can already tell. So it's on us, really, to feed off of that, and, you know, they're going to do a good job fostering a culture for us to sort of follow."

Miami hasn't made the playoffs in either of the last two seasons.
The Dolphins haven't won a single playoff game in 26 years.
Miami has torn its roster down as part of a dramatic reset.
And for Hafley, setting the right tone early on may be even more than 2026 total wins.
"We have to go out there and prove to the rest of the league what we're about," Ojabo said. "I don't think anybody has us winning the Super Bowl. But it doesn't matter what they say, cuz at the end of the day, if we go out and do it, and just keep winning games, then talk is cheap."
