New Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan offered a definitive update on the DeāVon Achane trade chatter on Wednesday that should please fans of the team.
The Dolphins have been very active this offseason. After a 7-10 finish, ownership decided to clean house of the teamās leadership and brought in a new regime led by Sullivan and his pick to replace head coach Mike McDaniel, Jeff Hafley. But that was just the beginning.
Over the last month, the team has gone with an addition by subtraction approach to changing the roster by tradingĀ Jaylen WaddleĀ andĀ Minkah Fitzpatrick. And cuttingĀ Tua Tagovailoa,Ā Tyreek Hill, andĀ Bradley Chubb. It is a serious overhaul that comes with a ton of dead cap and serious limitations to fill those holes. Since the team has sent so many established stars packing, there has been a lot of speculation about whether DeāVon Achane could be next.
After a Pro Bowl season in 2025 ā his first ā the running back would certainly have a lot of value on the trade market. Especially since the final season on the former third-round pickās contract is a bargain at just over $2 million. But that is also probably why Sullivan has no interest in moving Achane this offseason.

During a Wednesday press conference with Dolphins media, Sullivan told reporters Achane āis not available for tradeā no matter what the rumors suggest. Furthermore, with only one year left on his deal, he noted that he and the backās representation have had āpositive conversationsā about an extension, and he believes talks are ātrending in the right direction.ā
After moving so many top players, the Dolphins have few core members left to build around. After a breakout season in 2025 despite it being a down year for Miami, Achane should become a core member of the team long-term.
