The Miami Dolphins informed new quarterback Malik Willis about the trade of wide receiver Jaylen Waddle before it happened. Willis remains committed to the team's plans following the trade.
When the Denver Broncos made their trade with Miami Dolphins for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, it might have seemed a little confusing for Dolphins fans, who had just signed quarterback Malik Willis to a three-year deal.
Turns out Willis was as informed as anyone in the Miami front office.
"They gave — as far as Jon-Eric Sullivan, the general manager, and the head coach, Jeff Hafley — Malik Willis a heads up, a conversation before they traded Jaylen Waddle," said NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe, via Dolphins Wire. "(Willis) was in the know of this decision, and he's still all-in on the plan just like they were when they signed him in free agency. This isn't a shock adjustment to what particularly happened."
What Willis lost, the Broncos gained: a 5,000-yard receiver, who is still at the top of his game, and under an extremely reasonable contract, while also getting a game-changing pass-catcher for quarterback Bo Nix.
While it still remains to be seen who wins this trade in the end, there is palpable excitement in Broncos Country for the 2026 season.
