The Miami Dolphins recently added 13 new players via the 2026 NFL Draft, plus a slew of undrafted free agents following its conclusion. On Monday, they signed another player following his tryout during the team’s rookie minicamp last Friday and Saturday.
DJ Herman — former linebacker and fullback for the San Diego State Aztecs — inked a deal with Miami today. The team announced his position as fullback during the official announcement, yet highlighted his defensive and special teams play at the same time.
“Herman participated in Miami’s rookie minicamp last weekend on a tryout basis. He played collegiately at San Diego State (2021-25), where he appeared in 49 career games with two starts at linebacker. He recorded 56 tackles (26 solo), 1.0 tackle for loss and two passes defensed with the Aztecs and was a key contributor on special teams.”
We’ll see if his addition sticks, but it’s clear that new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and new head coach Jeff Hafley are willing to turn over every stone in order to get Miami’s roster back into a position to be competitive again. If Herman is able to be a contributor in any way on Sundays this fall, that’s a win for all Dolphins fans.
