Dominant From Start to Finish: Alabama Softball Rolls Past UAB Behind Moten’s Masterpiece

If you’re looking for a team that’s locked in right now, go ahead and look at Alabama softball.

On a Tuesday night in Birmingham, the Crimson Tide didn’t just win, they controlled every inch of the game, shutting out UAB 6-0 and making it look routine in the process. And that’s the scary part about this team… this kind of dominance is starting to feel normal.

Alabama moves to 43-4 on the season, and this one was powered by a little bit of everything: elite pitching, timely hitting, and the kind of confidence that travels no matter where they play.

Let’s start in the circle, because Vic Moten was simply untouchable.

Moten didn’t just throw a shutout, she owned the game. After allowing a couple of early baserunners, she flipped a switch and completely slammed the door, retiring 16 straight UAB hitters to close things out. Ten strikeouts later, she walked off the field with her fifth complete-game shutout of the season, and another reminder that Alabama’s pitching staff is one of the best in the country.

And here’s a stat that should make every upcoming opponent pay attention: Alabama pitching hasn’t issued a walk in the last 27 innings. That’s not just good… that’s elite-level control.

Offensively, the Tide didn’t waste opportunities.

They got on the board early and never looked back, scratching across the first run on a sacrifice fly before Lauren Johnson stepped up and set the tone in a big way. Her solo home run to open the third inning gave Alabama breathing room and injected even more energy into a lineup that’s already dangerous from top to bottom.

Then came Brooke Wells, who continues to be one of the most reliable bats in the lineup. She delivered a clutch two-RBI double in the fifth, stretching the lead and putting UAB in a hole they weren’t climbing out of.

And just when you thought Alabama was done, Alexis Pupillo reminded everyone why she’s one of the most feared hitters in the SEC. Her laser home run in the seventh pushed the Tide’s season total to 79, tying for the fifth-most in program history, and she’s now knocking on the door of the single-season top 10 herself.

Oh, and don’t overlook Ana Roman quietly putting together one of her best nights of the season, racking up two doubles after having just one coming into the game. That’s the kind of depth that makes this team so dangerous.

This wasn’t just a win, it was a statement.
