Rafael Devers began the 2026 MLB season so poorly that there was discussion of a curse surrounding his trade from the Boston Red Sox to the San Francisco Giants.

Devers homered on Monday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and over the last two weeks or so, he's on a bit of a roll:
Devers is feeling so good that he's showing off some swag even when he takes a walk, which is what's pictured at the top of this article.
It's a massive development as far as the Giants' season is concerned, but also for their future.
When they traded for Devers, it felt like it had the potential to be a steal -- if Devers maintained his strong hitting ability for the next decade that he's under contract.
But if Devers failed to remain a dangerous hitter, San Francisco would be hampered by a huge contract that would be tough to move.
Devers began the season poorly, leading to speculation about a curse related to his trade from the Red Sox.
Devers has been heating up, including hitting a home run against the Dodgers and showing improved performance over the last two weeks.

This recent surge isn't proof that Devers is all good to go for a bunch of years ahead, but it's at least more encouraging than what he was showing before he heated up.
Devers was always such a naturally gifted hitter with Boston that it seems hard to believe that would just go away.
By the same token, San Francisco has a pitcher-friendly ballpark, and Devers doesn't necessarily have a body type that will age gracefully.
There are no guarantees here, but it's good for the Giants to see Devers get on a bit of a roll like this.
