UFC White House is in six weeks, and final construction is about to begin.
On June 14, the UFC will host an event from the White House lawn, as part of the America 250 celebration, commemorating the 250th anniversary of United States independence. The card figures to be the biggest event of the year for the UFC, and over the past several months plans have slowly trickled out about what the event will look like. And UFC White House just over a month away, final preparations are beginning.
Speaking with reporters on Friday, President Donald Trump revealed that the arena construction for the event will begin in the next few days, with plans to seat a few thousand on White House lawn, and the remainder to experience the event from the Ellipse, a park across the street.
“We’re going to have some of the greatest champions in the world,” Trump said. “The arena, they’re going to start building it over the next week. It’s right here, and it will be about 5,000 seats. They’ll have 100,000 people down by the Ellipse, with screens. And it’s all free. It’s going to be great.”
UFC White House is headlined by a lightweight title bout between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje, and also features an interim heavyweight title fight between Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane.
