Donald Trump asked how Patrick Mahomes is doing to a Kansas City BBQ owner during the small business summit in Washington, DC. This question came when he was looking at the barbecues and t-shirts presented on the table. Last year in December, Mahomes suffered an injury in his left knee that disqualified him from playing the last three games of the season.
In a video shared by The White House’s Margo Martin, Donald Trump appeared to pay a visit to the stall of Joe Pearce, the owner of Slaps BBQ in Kansas City, during the summit. As he looked after the products, he asked Pearce about Mahomes. He questioned, “How is Mahomes doing?” He learned that he’s keeping well before wishing him a speedy recovery and praising his personality. “You tell the people of (Kansas City) we love him. He’s going to be OK. I hate to see that. He’s a fantastic guy,” he added.
In mid-December, Mahomes tore his ACL and LCL, and the following day immediately underwent surgery. Since then, he has undergone rehabilitation and has been recovering from his condition as another season approaches.
Recently, Coach Andy Reid provided a positive update about Mahomes’ health. He said, “We’ll have to see about that. He is in a good position to be able to do some things. If he can do some things, [he’ll do it]. Phase 2 [of the offseason program], remember, there’s no contact, and there’s no offense vs. defense. It’s Phase 3 that you get into that. Once you start the clock, then the clock’s gotta be rolling, you just have to evaluate what you want to do there. He’s in a position where he can do everything, I think.” He revealed that Mahomes is up to a lot of stuff, but reassured that he can throw the ball on his own (via ESPN)
