To say 2025 was a heck of a year for the New England Patriots would be an understatement.
Head coach Mike Vrabel walked into Foxboro and revitalized the roster on day one. By the end of the regular season, he had turned a 4-13 team into a 14-3 team for the first time in NFL history.
Had it not been for the MVP-caliber play of quarterback Drake Maye, none of that would have been possible.
As such, Boston Magazine decided to give the tandem the No. 1 ranking on their top-150 "Most Influential Bostonians" list.
The due was made the cover image of the edition, and the publication explained the decision in the announcement.
"Boston's had a rough go lately," the Boston Magazine's Instagram post read. "We had every reason to cry uncle -- but not a chance.
"Then, in a much-needed symbolic and spiritual lift, the Patriots clinched the AFC Championship and gave the city its first Super Bowl appearance in seven years.
"That was, and is, a cause for celebration. So when it came time to assemble this yearās annual 150 Most Influential Bostonians list, who demonstrated more power than the team that gave this city unequivocal joy?"
The publication received slight pushback for the timing of the announcement that had surely been in the works for months on end, but, recent events aside, it was absolutely the right choice.
The energy that the Patriots run created for Boston sports is still being felt during the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the Boston Celtics' pursuit of banner number 19.
