The Oregon Ducks baseball team is aiming for a sweep against the Washington Huskies after winning the first two games of their series. Left-hander Miles Gosztola will start for the Ducks in the final game.
It's been an interesting weekend for the Oregon Ducks baseball team in Seattle as they could easily find themselves looking at a sweep at the hands of the Huskies.
But instead, the shoe is on the other foot as it's the Ducks looking to sweep Washington in their own stadium, thanks to a couple of rallies to win the first two games of this conference series.
In Game 1, it was Burke-Lee Mabius who stunned the Dawgs with a three-run home run in the eighth inning to propel the Ducks to a 6-4 win. Then on Saturday night, it was Maddox Molony's turn to upend Washington. He hit two homers and drove in six en route to a 10-4 Ducks win.
Now Oregon goes for the sweep as left-hander Miles Gosztola (2-2, 4.00 ERA) takes the mound and he will go up against the Huskies' right-hander Hayden Lewis (5-4, 6.75 ERA). Gosztola has been inserted into that Sunday starters slot in recent weeks, replacing Cal Scolari, and the southpaw has pitched well since moving into the rotation. In his last start, Gosztola, a Seattle native, pitched into the seventh inning against Penn State, now allowing a run and was credited with the win.
He hopes to repeat that outing this afternoon against Washington in his home town. Follow along with our live blog, scores and analysis. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
