Sedriques Dumas continued to struggle at UFC Vegas 116.
The Floridian âReaperâ started off his UFC career well enough, winning three of his first five bouts in addition to his Contender Series success. Unfortunately, itâs been off the rails ever since, as heâs winless in his last four fights. He was stopped in all three of the losses, and the other matchup was a âNo Contestâ versus Zachary Reese that saw him kicked low so badly he couldnât pee for several days.
Most recently, Dumas was finished quickly by Jackson McVay in âThe Mooseâsâ first Octagon victory (highlights here) at UFC Vegas 116. Many expected that defeat would be the end of Dumasâ UFC career, but so far, there has been no official announcement. In fact, Dumas went on social media to reveal his solution to the losing streak: heâs going to drop down to Welterweight.
âIâm going to 170,â the 6â2â Dumas wrote on his Instagram story. âIâm sorry I love this sât to [sp] much.â

Alas, Dumasâ troubles are not restrained to the Octagon. Dumas has been in consistent trouble with the law. Even prior to his 2022 UFC signing, his rap sheet included prior convictions for shoplifting, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and domestic battery. Since then, heâs been arrested on felony battery charges in 2024. In 2015, Dumas was hit with five separate charges related to home invasion and could face up to 10 years behind bars and then got kicked off UFC 317 because he couldnât get his ankle monitor off in time to compete.
Surely, a Welterweight drop will fix everything, right?
In all seriousness, it remains to be seen if Dumas will try his hand at 170-pounds while still a UFC fighter, as roster cuts tend to trickle out in the week or month following an event. Though his recent results seem to indicate a cut is coming, UFC has also extended the leash for fighters on cheap contracts willing to step in on short-notice against more credentialed prospects.
